All of these winning debaters from 1915 served with the New Zealand forces during the First World War. The Kiwi: Official organ of the Auckland University College, 11, (1916), pp.64-65.
The First World War had a major impact on Auckland University College just as it did on all parts of New Zealand society.
It brought changes to the composition of the University as some students and staff went to war. It also prompted the suspension of some activities and the introduction of new ones such as patriotic fundraisers and the compilation of the Roll of Honour.
Over the following College Life pages we look further at what was happening and changing on campus from the outbreak of the war in 1914 until its immediate aftermath in 1919.
